Prepare
RELEASE.2026-10-18T00-00-00Z(20261018000000.0.0) on top of the already merged Go 1.27.2, silo-pkg v3.14.2 and minio-go v7.4.1 update. Preserve bytes returned with read errors and fix Skip offsets with fwd v1.2.1; include cpuid v2.4.1 cache identification fixes and the latest Go x/exp snapshot. Keep the go-systemd v22.6.0 portability replacement and tablewriter v0.0.5 API.Refresh both pinned UBI 9 release images, golangci-lint v2.15.0 and nFPM v2.48.0 (security dependencies and RPM/APK packaging fixes). GoReleaser stays v2.17.1. Record the prepared release in the changelog and both READMEs; the published release remains 20260916 until a separate publication step.
Validation: module integrity, dependency floors, formatting/lint/vet, credits, release gate tests and upstream fwd/cpuid tests pass. govulncheck reports no reachable or imported-package vulnerability; its database currently ends on October 8, so the newer go-jose advisory was checked directly against v4.1.6. Full race tests and make install pass. make test (including the full TLS suite) and functional-tests.sh pass against SILO main fbcb5119782a3ec0f2198fd9f42891a11dc4183f; CI validates all six release targets and Linux package payloads.
Release scope: signed immutable tag, Draft assets and verification. This PR does not publish the release or promote container tags.
