Make your own AI models, on your Mac.
Chaos is often defined not as total disorder, but as a multiplicity of possibilities birthed from the void.

CHAOS is a Mac app for designing, training and using small AI models, entirely on your own computer.
- Pick a goal and answer a few choices. CHAOS builds the model in front of you in 3D.
- It trains the model on your Mac's GPU.
- You can look inside while it thinks.
- You can turn it into an app you talk to.
Make one choice at a time: what the model should do, what kind of brain it has, how big it is, and what it learns from. Any choice can wait until later. As you choose, the model takes shape in 3D, with its size, memory and training time worked out for your Mac.
Every layer is something you can see and turn around. Move a slider and the model reshapes in place, with its exact parameter count. The designer offers attention, Mamba, recurrent, convolution and mixture-of-experts blocks.
Training runs on your Mac's GPU with Apple's MLX. You can follow every step and pause at any time. If your Mac starts to swap, a memory guard pauses the run at a checkpoint, and you resume it when there's room.
Fire any model and watch its input rise through every layer. Mute, dampen or boost a part of it, then see exactly what changes.
Lab experiments are built to be fair:
- change one thing;
- match the compute;
- run several seeds.
You get a leaderboard with confidence intervals.
Pair your model with a local voice model and talk to it. CHAOS recommends a voice and explains why, and a voice test can pick the best one for your app's own questions.
Every model gets an honest report on data it never saw:
- accuracy;
- calibration;
- a confusion matrix;
- what each class gets mistaken for.
When it's ready, export it to Ollama or ONNX and tick the optional safety checks.
- Everything runs on your Mac. Your data, models and chats live in one folder you choose, on any drive.
- Nothing leaves your Mac except downloads you start, such as datasets and base models.
- Datasets pass a licence check before they come in.
- The ⌘K assistant is optional, and it uses your own Claude Code sign-in.
The first time it opens, CHAOS:
- asks where to keep your work;
- installs what it needs into that folder;
- shows the optional helpers. Ollama adds talking apps and exports. Claude Code adds the assistant. A Hugging Face account is needed only for gated models.
- A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later)
- macOS 15 or later
- 16 GB of memory recommended
- About 20 GB of free space for your data
