Search: quoted terms match the exact spelling (#501) - #502
Quoted searches now distinguish accents while ignoring letter case: "haffner" excludes Häffner, "häff" finds Häffner while typing, and "thomas mann" requires a contiguous phrase. Unquoted searches retain the existing accent-tolerant behavior. The book search keeps the FULLTEXT prefix pre-filter for quoted words and phrases; the binary LIKE then checks the spelling and phrase. The phrase tokenizer now returns every word, and a regression test verifies index use with EXPLAIN.
The same quote handling applies across the public catalogue and header, homepage search, desktop/mobile backend search, book/author/publisher/user/loan/reservation lists, advanced text filters, autocomplete pickers, series, genres, locations, Dewey, CSV/LibraryThing exports, and the relevant public/mobile APIs. The mixed catalogue, standalone article searches, periodical suggestions and archive searches also honor quoted spelling. Author/publisher name links and catalogue facets keep accent variants separate. Exact spelling wins when resolving existing author/publisher records during import.
Verification: 106 Playwright tests passed against the modified checkout, including individual backend filter boxes, mobile search, exports, public name pages and accessible hints in all five locales; 844 PHP checks passed across the targeted search/API/plugin suites and related regressions. PHPStan, PHP syntax, locale/placeholder parity, Playwright policy and git diff checks passed. Database behavior was exercised locally on MySQL 9.6; the PR workflows cover the supported MySQL/MariaDB matrix.
Saving names: quotes mean a separate person
When only "Haffner" is on file, a book saved with author "Häffner" is still linked to Haffner: the accent-tolerant dedup is what merges "Garcia Marquez" with "García Márquez", and I kept it as the default. Typed in quotes ("Häffner"), a name now means that exact spelling: only an author or publisher written the same way is reused, otherwise a new one is created and stored without the quotes. Once both spellings exist, the exact one wins with or without quotes. This applies to the book form, the CSV and LibraryThing imports, the mobile API and the periodical publisher picker.
I also fixed the admin reservations page, which never listed any reservation (the controller passed $rows, the view read $items), and a filter box that mixes quoted and plain words now matches each word with its own rule instead of searching the quotes literally.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Text columns use utf8mb4_unicode_ci, which folds accents, so a search for
"haffner" also returned "Häffner". That tolerance stays the default: it lets
people find Müller by typing muller. Wrapping a term in quotes now opts out:
"haffner" matches only Haffner, "Häffner" only Häffner, and a quoted group
with spaces ("thomas mann") is an exact phrase. Case is still ignored, an
unclosed quote counts as closed, and typographic quotes („…“, “…”, «…») work
like straight ones.
The exact comparison is LOWER(expr) COLLATE utf8mb4_bin LIKE LOWER(?): the
accent-sensitive case-insensitive collations have different names on MySQL 8
and MariaDB and do not exist on older servers, utf8mb4_bin exists everywhere.
In the book search FULLTEXT still pre-filters the rows (quoted words required
as whole words), then the binary LIKE keeps the exact spelling.
New App\Support\ExactSearch holds the tokenizer and the SQL helpers. It is
used by the book search (catalogue, admin book list, autocomplete, preview,
mobile API, relevance ranking, pre-migration fallback), the admin author,
publisher, user and loan lists, the unified search author/publisher results,
the author/publisher/user pickers and the mobile API author/publisher filters.

[ #501 ] richiede di distinguere «Haffner» da «Häffner» nella ricerca degli autori. ExactSearch applica il confronto esatto alle ricerche tra virgolette, ignora le maiuscole e distingue gli accenti. SearchIndexBuilder, i controller autore e le API usano questa regola. I test unitari, di integrazione ed E2E verificano entrambe le grafie. ℹ️ No critical issues. One rough edge in the book search is noted inline.
Reviewed changes
This review covers the full PR (one commit). It adds quoted "exact spelling" terms on top of the accent-folding utf8mb4_unicode_ci search and moves every touched search path onto a shared helper.
ExactSearch helper: a new tokenizer and condition builders. They handle straight and typographic quotes, treat an unclosed quote as closed, and build an accent-sensitive, case-insensitive match from LOWER(expr) COLLATE utf8mb4_bin LIKE LOWER(?) with escaped wildcards.
Book search (SearchIndexBuilder): the FULLTEXT condition, the pre-migration fallback and the relevance ORDER BY now share one tokenizer (searchTerms()). A quoted term adds a FULLTEXT pre-filter plus the exact LIKE on search_index.
Admin lists and pickers: authors, publishers, users (list and PDF export), loans, the unified search and the author/publisher/user pickers now go through filterCondition()/wordsCondition(). As a side effect, the publisher/loan/user LIKEs that never escaped %/_ now do.
Mobile API filters: the CatalogController author and publisher filters honour quotes.
Tests: a new unit test covers the tokenizer, the DB matching and the validity of the generated SQL, and a new E2E spec drives the admin and catalogue search boxes. issue-237-regression now checks the ESCAPE invariant on ExactSearch.
I ran the pure tokenizer part of tests/exact-quoted-search-501.unit.php here and all 9 checks passed. The DB part skipped because no MySQL is available in the review sandbox. Every column the exact comparison touches is utf8mb4 in installer/database/schema.sql, so COLLATE utf8mb4_bin is valid on all of them.

⚠️Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

Reviewed changes
This review covers c83eabd, which spreads quoted exact search from the first commit's handful of paths to almost every search surface in core and the plugins.
Book search prefix fix: quoted words now pre-filter with +token*, so "häff" and "thomas man" match while typing. fulltextTokens() returns every token of a quoted phrase. The prior thread on this is resolved.
New ExactSearch helpers: added equalsCondition(), inCondition() and exactFirstSql(). parseFilter() now joins several quoted groups into one term, and invalid UTF-8 is scrubbed before tokenizing.
Name links and facets: the author/publisher name pages and catalogue filters compare names with equalsCondition()/inCondition(). The publisher facet groups by LOWER(e.nome) COLLATE utf8mb4_bin, so Haffner and Häffner stay separate.
More search paths on quotes: added genres, locations, series, Dewey, the ISBN and series filters, the public API author filter, reservations, user lists with full-name matching, the book and LibraryThing exports (now on search_index), the mixed catalogue articles, emeroteca mastheads and articles, the archives searches and the mobile staff controllers.
Find-or-create by name: author and publisher lookups in the repositories, the imports, bulk enrichment, book-club and emeroteca now prefer the exact spelling.
Reservations admin fix: the view variables ($items, $q_libro, …) are now set. Before this, the list always rendered empty.
Search hint: added one new string in all five locales, shown as a title on the search inputs and as a visible .search-hint under the catalogue box.
Tests: added eight DB-backed unit suites, shared seed helpers and four Playwright specs.
Every changed PHP file passes php -l, and scripts/ci-check-locales.py passes. The pure parts of exact-search-core-501, exact-quoted-search-501, issue-237-regression and contributor-plugin-compatibility-237 pass. The DB sections skip here because the sandbox has no MySQL.

- Series autocomplete: one suggestion per spelling. Names that differ only
in case are merged again (as UNION did), accents stay apart, and the list
sorts with the tolerant collation instead of byte order.
- A filter box that mixes quoted and plain words ("haffner" archivio,
archivio "haffner") now ANDs the words, each with its own rule, instead of
gluing them into one phrase or searching the quotes as literal characters.
The archives search and its authority match follow the same rule, with the
authority link tables referenced once.
- Mobile archive collection: a query of quotes only returns an empty list
instead of dropping the root-only filter and listing the whole archive.
- E2E specs load e2e-fixtures only when the E2E environment is configured,
so they skip cleanly instead of failing at import time.
A filter value with a quote now ANDs its words, one condition per word and column. Without a budget a pasted wall of words became thousands of placeholders; the mixed branch now keeps the first 20 words, the same budget as the other word searches.
…ring
The source-level check looked for a literal bind_param('ssss'). The unified search now binds whatever the shared archive condition builds (one placeholder per column and term), so the literal is gone while the behaviour is intact and exercised by tests/exact-search-archives-501.unit.php. The check now asserts that the unified search uses that builder, binds its own types and params, and that the builder covers reference_code.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
Important
In filterCondition(), a box that mixes words now becomes one condition per word. Two callers still bind it as a single term, and one of them, the genre picker, now throws on input like storia "arte".
Reviewed changes
This review covers the three commits after c83eabd, which address the CodeRabbit findings.
Mixed filter boxes: filterCondition() now hands values with several tokens and at least one quote to wordsCondition(), capped at MAX_FILTER_TERMS (20). Each word then keeps its own rule, and no quote is searched as a literal character.
Series autocomplete: suggestions are grouped by LOWER(nome) COLLATE utf8mb4_bin and sorted by MIN(nome) in the column's collation. The prior thread is resolved.
Archive searches: archiveSearchCondition() matches quoted queries word by word. A linked authority record can meet the terms through a single EXISTS, and the unit columns are qualified with the outer alias.
Mobile archive collection: a query of quotes only now returns an empty page, where it used to return the whole archive. The authority EXISTS follows the same per-word rule.
E2E guards: the three new specs skip when the E2E environment is missing, instead of failing when e2e-fixtures loads.
Tests: added DB cases for mixed queries in the core, archives, mobile collections and series suites. The archives source check now looks at the shared builder instead of a hard-coded 'ssss'.
I checked every other filterCondition() caller: each binds $search['types']/params generically. tests/archives-plugin.unit.php passes here (60/60). The DB suites skip because the sandbox has no MySQL.

When only "Haffner" is on file, a book saved with author "Häffner" is still
linked to Haffner: the accent-tolerant dedup is what merges "Garcia Marquez"
with "García Márquez", and it stays the default. Typed in quotes, the name
now means that exact spelling (accents distinct, case ignored): only an
author or publisher written the same way is reused, otherwise a new one is
created, stored without the quotes. Once both spellings exist, the exact one
wins with or without quotes.
This lives in AuthorRepository and PublisherRepository, so the book form, the
CSV and LibraryThing imports, the mobile API and the periodical publisher
picker all follow it; the importers' own publisher lookups now go through
PublisherRepository::findByName(). Bulk enrichment is left alone: its names
come from external APIs and never carry typed quotes.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
ℹ️ No critical issues in the new commit. One edge case in the new quotedValue() helper changes stored names, noted inline.
Reviewed changes
This review covers 976872e. When a name is saved, a name typed in quotes now stands for a separate author or publisher.
ExactSearch::quotedValue(): added a helper that returns the parseFilter() term for quoted input and null otherwise. It is used where a name is saved, not searched.
Quoted lookup in the repositories: for quoted input, AuthorRepository::findByCanonicalName() and PublisherRepository::findByName() now match only the exact spelling through equalsCondition(). The author lookup also tries the AuthorNormalizer form. Both skip the accent-tolerant fallback.
Quotes stripped on create: AuthorRepository::create() and PublisherRepository::create() store the name without its quotes.
Shared publisher lookup: the CSV and LibraryThing getOrCreatePublisher() and emeroteca PeriodicalPublisherService::resolve() now call PublisherRepository::findByName(), so they get the same rules as the book form.
Tests: added 16 DB cases to exact-search-dedup-501, covering the repositories, both importers and the periodical picker. A new Playwright spec saves books through the real book form.
I checked every findByCanonicalName()/findByName() caller. Each one creates through the repository's create(), so the quotes are stripped everywhere. The two exceptions are the scraper insert paths in BulkEnrichmentService and book-club, which take no typed input. The two threads from the previous review (the GeneriApiController bind count and the emeroteca linked-author EXISTS) are in files this commit does not touch, so they are still open.

The entities typeahead behind the relation picker (archival units,
authority records, activities, places) still built its own LIKE pattern,
so a quoted name folded accents like an unquoted one. It now goes through
ExactSearch::filterCondition(), the same rule as the other archive
searches. The archives suite checks the invariant on the real action:
quoted keeps the exact spelling, unquoted still folds case and accents,
and a bare % or a lone pair of quotes matches nothing.
The hint lived only in a title tooltip, which nobody sees without hovering
and touch devices never show. It is now a small caption under each search
box (the text-xs text-gray-500 mt-1 help line used elsewhere in the
back office), tied to the field with aria-describedby so screen readers
still read it as the field's description, not its name.
The admin archive list, the admin unified archive search and the public
archive filter column now show the same quote hint as the catalogue. The
shared filter sidebar takes an optional hint, rendered with the
catalogue's search-hint class and linked as the box's description; only
the archive passes one for now.
Seven browser tests, one per surface (catalogue, admin books, authors,
publishers, admin archive list, unified archive search, public archive):
read the visible hint, type a quoted query as a person would and check
that only the exact spelling is listed. The archive tests seed two units
that differ only by an umlaut and remove them afterwards.

✅ No new issues in these four commits. The three earlier threads (the GeneriApiController bind count, the emeroteca linked-author EXISTS and the quotedValue() rebuild) are in files these commits do not touch, so they stay open.
Reviewed changes
This review covers the four commits after 976872e: quoted search in the archives relation typeahead, and a visible quote hint under the main search boxes.
Archives relation typeahead: entitiesAutocompleteAction (/api/archives/entities) now filters the label with ExactSearch::filterCondition() and binds types/params generically. A query of only quotes returns no results. An empty query uses 1=1, which returns the same rows as the old LIKE '%' because every label column is NOT NULL. All four label columns are utf8mb4, so COLLATE utf8mb4_bin is valid, and the filterCondition() result is wrapped in parentheses, so AND deleted_at IS NULL still applies to every match.
Visible hint in the admin lists: the books, authors and publishers filters now show the hint as a <p> linked through aria-describedby, where before it was only a title tooltip.
Archive hints: the admin archive list and the unified search show the same hint. filters-sidebar.php has a new optional hint key, which the public archive uses to render #filter-search-hint.
Tests: exact-search-archives-501 has 11 new DB cases for the typeahead, searchArchivalUnits and mixed words. The new issue-501-quoted-hint.spec.js checks each hint and its accessible description and runs a quoted search on each box. It skips when the E2E environment is missing or the archives plugin is inactive.
php -l passes on ArchivesPlugin.php and filters-sidebar.php. The DB suite skips here because the sandbox has no MySQL.
…fcwm
ubuntu-latest now resolves to 26.04, where Playwright cannot install Chromium, so every browser job fails before running a test. I pin the runners to 24.04 until Playwright supports the new image.

The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
ℹ️ No critical issues. The tinymce bump does not change the editor that users load. Details inline.
Reviewed changes
This review covers 7a189c8, a CI-only commit made after 5ce2900.
Pinned runners: every job in the twelve workflows now runs on ubuntu-24.04 instead of ubuntu-latest.
tinymce dependency: the root package.json range went from ^8.1.2 to ^8.10.0, and package-lock.json now resolves 8.10.0 (it was 8.8.2).
The three earlier threads (the GeneriApiController bind count, the emeroteca linked-author EXISTS and the quotedValue() rebuild) are in files this commit does not touch, so they are still open.
A filter box that mixes quoted and plain words (`storia "arte"`,
`"häffner" rolf`) becomes one condition per word in filterCondition(),
but a few callers still treated it as one term:
- GeneriApiController bound a fixed 'ssi', so the book form's genre
picker threw ArgumentCountError on a second word after a quote. It now
binds the condition's own types and params.
- The emeroteca author filter built the linked-author EXISTS from the
first word only. The filter loop moves to
ContributionService::filterConditions(), and the EXISTS uses
filterCondition() on a.nome/a.pseudonimo, the same per-word rules as
the c.autori branch.
- The mobile catalogue publisher filter and the emeroteca issue hint
probe now go through filterCondition()/tokenize() per word, as their
destinations do.
parseFilter() no longer calls a value exact just because it starts with a
quote: it is exact only when quoted as a whole, and a mixed value comes
back tolerant without literal quotes. quotedValue() follows, so a saved
name such as `"Il Mulino", Bologna` or `"Pippo" Inzaghi` is stored as
typed instead of being rewritten.
The series autocomplete gets a binary tie-break after the tolerant sort:
Haffner and Häffner tie under utf8mb4_unicode_ci, and MariaDB 11.4 returned
them in the other order.
The quoted-author E2E keeps Enter (the #74 contract for "use what I
typed") and now asserts the committed chip is the typed name.
The tinymce bump only reached node_modules, while the app loads the
committed copy in public/assets/tinymce, which was still 8.1.2. That copy
is now refreshed from the locked 8.10.0 package (same file set: the dom
model, silver theme, oxide and tinymce-5 skins, default icons and the
existing plugins; license.md added, CHANGELOG.md stays ignored).
copy-vendor-assets.js now copies TinyMCE as well, so the existing
"git diff --exit-code -- public/assets" gates in the release and supply
chain workflows fail whenever a tinymce bump is not followed by the
refreshed files.

Reviewed changes
This review covers the two commits after 7a189c8: per-word handling for mixed quoted values in the remaining single-term callers, and a refresh of the vendored TinyMCE.
parseFilter() and quotedValue(): a value is now exact only when every token is a quoted group. A mixed value comes back tolerant without literal quotes, and a stray trailing quote is dropped. As a result, "Il Mulino", Bologna and "Pippo" Inzaghi are now saved exactly as typed.
Genre picker: GeneriApiController::search binds $search['types'] . 'si' with the condition's own params, so storia "arte" no longer throws ArgumentCountError.
Emeroteca author box: the filter loop moved into ContributionService::filterConditions(). The linked-author EXISTS now uses filterCondition(['a.nome', 'a.pseudonimo'], …) and binds every param, so it follows the same per-word rules as c.autori.
Emeroteca catalogue hint: emerotecaIndexedArticleMatches() builds one arm per word, capped at 20 words, to match its destination search.
Mobile publisher filter: CatalogController builds both the primary and the junction publisher match with filterCondition().
Series autocomplete: the binary spelling now breaks ties in ORDER BY, so the order is the same on every server.
Vendored TinyMCE: the committed public/assets/tinymce/ copy is refreshed to 8.10.0 with the same file set. copy-vendor-assets.js now also copies TinyMCE, so the existing git diff --exit-code -- public/assets CI checks catch a stale copy. The release ZIP checks in bin/build-release.sh and scripts/ci-verify-release.sh look for five TinyMCE files, and all five are still present.
Tests: added DB cases for the genre picker, the emeroteca author box and catalogue hint, and the mobile publisher filter. Added parser and quotedValue() cases to exact-search-core-501. The new-author E2E now checks the chip text.
php -l passes on every changed PHP file. The pure part of tests/exact-search-core-501.unit.php passes (27/27). Its DB section skips here because the sandbox has no MySQL.

prima di passarlo a ExactSearch::quotedValue e self::normalize, così i nomi
contenenti entità HTML vengono normalizzati nella stessa forma dei nomi in
lista; riutilizza HtmlHelper::decode.

Unverified finding
We couldn't verify this from the code. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
The newly used quoted exact condition delegates case-insensitivity to LOWER plus a binary comparison. That may not equate Unicode case variants such as Greek final sigma and ordinary sigma, despite the quoted-search promise to ignore letter case.
The author may be omitted from quoted results even though the spelling differs only by letter case.
This can occur when: Search the public author picker for quoted "ΟΣ" when an author's name is stored as ος.

Reviewed changes
This run covers one commit since the prior Pullfrog review (60214c8). It closes the two contributor-name edge cases noted last time.
Author edit matches create: AuthorRepository::update() now runs decode → ExactSearch::quotedValue() → AuthorNormalizer::normalize(), the same steps as create(). A | or ; inside one author name is no longer split as a cache-column list on edit.
Single cached name decoded: AuthorNormalizer::normalizeStored() decodes entities for a single name as well, so O'Brien, Flann is cached as Flann O'Brien with or without quotes, just as it would be inside a list. Every view that renders these cache columns escapes its output.
Tests: Added two DB assertions in tests/exact-search-dedup-501.unit.php: a | in a name survives update(), and quotes around the whole name are dropped on edit. Updated the single-name entity expectations in tests/exact-quoted-search-501.unit.php. The non-DB part passes locally (24/24), and php -r confirms the expected values for the new DB cases.
Browser regression shard 4/4 is red on 0168b47 because of one flaky test, not a test failure in this change. 909 passed, 38 skipped, 1 flaky.
The flaky test is tests/issue-173-cover-save.spec.js:147 (#173: editing a book with an OpenLibrary cover saves a local file). On the first try the saved cover was empty, and it passed on the retry. The CI audit step fails any shard with a flaky test ("retries must not turn nondeterminism green"). The test downloads a real cover from OpenLibrary, so it depends on that service answering. 0168b47 only changes AuthorRepository::update() and AuthorNormalizer::normalizeStored(), which this test does not reach. The same test passed on 60214c8.
No fix exists for this yet: making the test independent of OpenLibrary is outside this PR. I could not re-run the job from here (the rerun API answers 403). One re-run of shard 4/4 should turn it green.
…sted one
AuthorRepository::update() ran the name through normalizeStored(), which
since the list handling splits on ';' and '|' as a cache-column list: an
author saved as "Given | Hüffner Gruppe" became "Given; Hüffner Gruppe" on
every edit, while create() kept it. update() now does what create() does:
drop whole-name quotes, then normalize().
normalizeStored() decoded HTML entities only on the list branch (through
ContributorSync::splitNames()), so "O'Brien, Flann" alone was cached as
"Flann O'Brien" and inside a list as "Flann O'Brien". The single-name
branch is decoded too.
The pre-migration LIKE fallback treated `_` as a separator, so a quoted
"haffner" also found x_Haffner, which the FULLTEXT path (where `_` is a
word character) does not. The test now also checks that a quoted term
with regex characters still finds its own book.

Reviewed changes
This run covers one commit since the prior Pullfrog review (bc58703, tree-identical to the reviewed 0168b47).
Underscore is a word character in the fallback: SearchIndexBuilder::buildLegacyCondition now uses (^|[^[:alnum:]_]) before a quoted word. In the pre-migration fallback, "haffner" therefore no longer matches x_Haffner, which matches the InnoDB FULLTEXT tokenizer and fulltextTokens() ([\p{L}\p{N}_]). A phppreg_match check gives the expected result for x_haffner, schaffner, a haffner and é-haffner.
Stronger fallback tests: tests/exact-search-fulltext-501.unit.php now seeds c++ (x) Handbuch and x_Haffner Studien. The quoted "c++ (x)" query must now find its book instead of returning [], so the test shows that preg_quote escaping matches literally. The tolerant haffner expectation now includes the underscore book, as before for substrings.
Replies to the follow-up and nitpick findings listed in the body of the CodeRabbit reviews on this PR:
app/Support/ExactSearch.php (declined): Leaving this as is: two separately quoted words are two terms, so "Thomas" "Mann" requires each word exactly, in any order, while "Thomas Mann" stays one contiguous phrase. The series autocomplete relies on the same per-word rule.
app/Controllers/CollaneController.php (already fixed): Already in place: searchApi() builds each column's condition with ExactSearch::filterCondition() on the original q, keeps the NULL/empty guards and applies the two-character minimum to every word.
app/Support/SearchIndexBuilder.php (already fixed): Already in place: a quoted term in the legacy fallback must start a word through the REGEXP word-start check, and tests/exact-search-fulltext-501.unit.php asserts that a quoted "haffner" no longer finds Schaffner.
app/Support/SearchIndexBuilder.php (fixed): Fixed in 0af84c4: the word-start boundary excludes _, as the InnoDB FULLTEXT parser does, so a quoted "haffner" no longer finds x_Haffner. The unquoted path is unchanged.
app/Support/AuthorNormalizer.php (already fixed): Fixed in bc58703: normalizeStored() decodes a single name with HtmlHelper::decode() before quotedValue() and normalize(), the same as a name inside a list.
tests/exact-search-fulltext-501.unit.php (fixed): Fixed in 0af84c4: the test adds a book titled with c++ (x) and asserts the legacy fallback finds exactly that book, so the regex characters are both literal and matched.

Il test di aggiornamento con | non rileva un aggiornamento mancato.
Alla riga 48, create() salva già "{$given} | Hüffner Gruppe". La riga 49 aggiorna l'autore con lo stesso valore. L'asserzione alla riga 51 confronta quindi il valore già presente. Se update() non scrive il nome, l'asserzione passa comunque.
La riga 53 rileva un aggiornamento mancato, perché il valore atteso è diverso. Non copre però un aggiornamento verso un nome con |.
Il seme del test deve usare un nome senza |. In questo modo il valore iniziale è diverso dal valore aggiornato.

Fixes #501
Quoted searches now distinguish accents while ignoring letter case:
"haffner"excludes Häffner,"häff"finds Häffner while typing, and"thomas mann"requires a contiguous phrase. Unquoted searches retain the existing accent-tolerant behavior. The book search keeps the FULLTEXT prefix pre-filter for quoted words and phrases; the binary LIKE then checks the spelling and phrase. The phrase tokenizer now returns every word, and a regression test verifies index use with EXPLAIN.The same quote handling applies across the public catalogue and header, homepage search, desktop/mobile backend search, book/author/publisher/user/loan/reservation lists, advanced text filters, autocomplete pickers, series, genres, locations, Dewey, CSV/LibraryThing exports, and the relevant public/mobile APIs.
Typed in quotes (
"Häffner"), a name now means that exact spelling: only an author or publisher written the same way is reused, otherwise a new one is created and stored without the quotes. Once both spellings exist, the exact one wins with or without quotes. This applies to the book form, the CSV and LibraryThing imports, the mobile API and the periodical publisher picker.I also fixed the admin reservations page, which never listed any reservation (the controller passed
$rows, the view read$items), and a filter box that mixes quoted and plain words now matches each word with its own rule instead of searching the quotes literally.Summary by CodeRabbit
