The Comline RPC/IPC runtime — the surface-4 contract (Dispatch, WireFormat,
Envelope, Handshake, …), framing, transports, the Client / Server
call path, and Connection, which carries calls in both directions and several
protocols over datagram@2. no_std-first; alloc and std are additive
features.
| Feature | Adds |
|---|---|
alloc |
owned generated types, the frame transport, Client, Server, Connection |
std (default) |
the MessagePack and JSON formats, the in-memory and TCP transports, the dylib ABI |
async |
AsyncConnection: the async driver for connections, on any executor (only the futures crates) |
tokio |
tokio's TCP as an async transport, and its clock for call timeouts |

Weak, file-level copyleft: modifications to this crate's own files stay open
when distributed, but linking it into a proprietary application is explicitly
fine (MPL §3.3). It is the one piece of Comline meant to ship inside your
program, which is why it is not GPL like the toolchain. Contributions are
MPL-2.0. See design/licensing.md
for the rationale and the per-repo split.
